Welding with an AWithZ P60F, way too powerful, turn the gear up a bit and it punches through the cell's steel can. Two layers of 0.15 nickel-plated with a layer of 0.05 copper in between still leaves black rings, need more practice, using dead cells to train on (liked by the creator)

Use 0.1 nickel strip, weld two layers and you're fine

Portable Li-ion spot welders are convenient for sure, but when welding 18650s and 21700s the key is whether the current output is stable. Best to sand the cell terminals clean first, lower contact resistance makes for solid welds.

Makes sense, use thinner strip and weld two layers, sanded ones rust easily

Why do I get sparks when welding

Years ago I followed an online guru and hand-built an 'Iraqi-model' welder from a microwave transformer, gathered dust for ages, way more current than this one. Recently dug it out for an upgrade, foot switch to power it! Then back to gathering dust
