First check the pins are seated firmly and the material surface is clean; work up from a low gear one step at a time — 0.1–0.15mm nickel-plated strip usually welds at low-to-mid gears. Parameter Lookup shows creators' settings by cell × material.
Nickel-plated steel strip is cheap and easy to weld — fine for everyday repair and DIY. Pure nickel conducts better and runs cooler — the choice for high-current discharge. For copper or anything over 0.3mm, use a supercapacitor model with flux.
Pins are consumables — dress or replace them when welds enlarge, spark often or blacken noticeably; see the manual's pin-change section and the Academy videos for steps.
Top up to 50–80% every 3 months; avoid heat and long-term storage at full charge. Supercapacitor models need no charge maintenance.
Match and grade the cells, never mix old and new, two spots per strip, always fit a BMS, insulate the positive end with fish paper, and watch the first charge from start to finish. See the safety guide.
