UF20B unboxing and test: 1750A, welds 0.15 copper / 0.4 nickel, supercapacitor fills in moments, takes a foot pedal; a higher gear is not a stronger weld
The creator picks up an AWithZ UF20B (AWithZ focuses on spot welders; a must-have for repair / DIY): main unit, manual, power cord, welding pen and a free roll of nickel strip. Neat finish, cooling fan at the rear, a slot on the base so it also cools when stood upright; max output current 1750A, officially rated for 0.15mm copper strip and 0.4mm nickel strip. On power-up the screen shows the AWithZ logo and the internal supercapacitor charges first, done in moments; long-press to power on, short-press the power key to switch settings; the trigger port takes a foot switch, set to foot-pedal mode. The default gear 05 is on the low side, max is 100; after welding nickel strip the welds are bright as new with no blackening, and pulling on the strip tears the strip while the welds hold tight. Key point: a higher gear is not a stronger weld — too high burns through and wrecks the strip and the weld is actually weaker; like a soldering iron’s temperature, right is right. Commenters ask for a ‘gear vs nickel strip thickness chart’.

1. Unboxing: main unit, manual, power cord, welding pen, nickel stripAWithZ focuses on spot welders and has a wide line-up; the pick is the UF20B; accessories are the power cord, welding pen and a free nickel strip — the full set.

2. Looks and specs: fan, base slot, 1750A, 0.15 copper / 0.4 nickelNeat finish; cooling fan at the rear and a small slot on the base, so it also cools stood upright; max output current 1750A; welds 0.15mm copper strip and 0.4mm nickel strip.

3. Power up to charge the capacitor, switch on, foot-pedal modeOn power-up the screen lights with the logo and charges the internal supercapacitor, done in moments; long-press to power on, short-press the power key to switch settings; plug in the welding pen; the trigger port takes a foot switch, set to foot-pedal mode.
01:01 – 01:34
4. Nickel strip test: bright, no blackening, holds under pullingThe default gear 05 is low, max is 100; after welding the welds are bright as new with no blackening; pull with pliers and the strip tears while the welds stay tight.
01:34 – 02:04
5. Key point: a higher gear is not a stronger weldToo high burns through and wrecks the strip, so the weld is actually weaker; set the gear to suit the actual workpiece; like a soldering iron, hotter is not better. A pro machine that handles well — fine for small RC toys or assembling a main pack.

Creator’s tips
- A higher gear does not mean a stronger weld — too high burns through the strip and the weld is weaker; set the gear to suit the actual workpiece 02:04
- A weld that is bright as new and not blackened is a good weld 01:51
- The trigger port takes a foot switch, leaving both hands free to hold the workpiece 01:29
Pitfalls
- The default gear 05 is on the low side and needs turning up 01:37

Is there a lookup table for the welding gears vs nickel-plated strip (nickel strip)?
